Trauma minimisation using minimally invasive technologies
Minimally invasive methods for diagnosis and surgery are of increasing importance in
modern medicine. These minimally invasive alternatives usually result in less pain,
scarring and recovery time of the patient, as well as in reduced health-care costs.
Our research project "trauma minimization by minimally invasive technologies" directly linked partners from
science and industry, supporting the development of new surgical techniques and instruments.
Research Foci:
-
Optimisation of the interstitial high frequency thermotherapy
-
Therapy of liver carcinomas, transcutaneous as well as by laparascopy
-
Extension of the indication range to other parts and organs of the body
-
Finding out new ways of access for endoscopes in gastroenterology
-
Development of refined methods for intraoperative three dimensional imaging
-
Integration of these techniques into the clinical workflow
Results
The study was successfully completed in June 2004. The results have to some extent even exceeded our expectations and will be published in the near future.
