The working group "Biomaterials" has been initiated by members for members and welcomes everybody interested in this area of expertise. Since the first workshop in 1998, scientists from industry and university have defined their main fields of interest and focused on the following topics:

• Requirements for materials used in medical devices
• Issues of biocompatibility
• Tissue Engineering
• Bioactively degradable materials
• Materials designed for application in various fields of application, e.g.:
  • Cardiovascular System
  • Organ Replacement
  • Orthopedics
  • Dentistry

• Legal and patent matters
• Clinical aspects

We will continue to organise workshops discussing current issues. Suggestions for topics to be included are welcome!
