EU-Project NEURO-RESCUE

Seventh Framework Programme

NeuroRescue

EU

The project NEURO-RESCUE (NEUROsciences RESearch Clusters of Excellence) adresses the care for people with dementia in European countries. In the context of an ageing population, an increasing number of European citizens are likely to be affected by mental disorders, dementia or neurodegenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer's). By working with leading regional clusters in an open dialogue with key stakeholders, the project will set up new models for mental health research that guarantee a systematic multidisciplinary approach. The project will aim to address: research, economic and societal issues in a cross sectoral fashion. This will be carried out by a SWOT Analysis (mapping analysis exercise and an opportunities and finance/demand exercise), a Joint Action Plan definition (shared research & innovation action plan to achieve the vision of an integrated neurosciences research system) and a Joint Action Plan implementation (prepare the implementation of this action plan in the period following project completion. It will improve mentoring activities for emerging clusters, dissemination activities, in the participating regions and with indirect stakeholders. It will also put in place a number of pilot projects to strengthen international cooperation).

Project start: December 1, 2010.
